Research, Investigations, and Laboratory Resources



  1. CRC maintains all equipment required for carrying out all archival and field research necessary for cultural resource management of prehistoric and historic land use. We are equipped to furnish terrestrial and submerged (marine) archaeological and historical investigations, testing, mitigation and excavation, data inventory, mapping, artifact conservation, and environmental analysis. Our field equipment includes all of the standard tools required in archaeology and environmental investigations as well as items such as GIS/GPS instrumentation, land equipment, altimeters, soil probes, metal detectors, power water screens, video equipment, specialized photography equipment such as the perspective correcting lenses used in architectural documentation.


  2. CRC uses a variety of computers and related equipment necessary for mapping and report production, with software applications for word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, databases, Global Information System (GIS), AutoCAD, ArcView, communications, graphics, scanning, and statistical functions. Equipment owned by CRC includes personal computers (PC's), laser and inkjet printers, desktop graphics plotter, high-resolution slide scanner, and digital cameras.


  3. CRC maintains an extensive research library, which addresses all relevant aspects of North American and international environments, paleontology, ante-history, and history. This includes rare and out-of-print volumes, maps, historical photographs, contemporary journals, unpublished manuscripts, and government reports, as well as a standard reference library. Research on land issues, in any area, is easily accommodated by CRC's proximity and network access to the open and restricted sections at the offices of the State, Federal, and International natural resources, land management, environmental, and historic archives.
